Trig Aerobatic Team – Take Off

June 15, 2016

A spell of good weather has given pilots the opportunity to complete spring maintenance, remove aircraft covers and get in the air again.

Richard Grace and Dave Puleston of the Trig Aerobatic Team are equally keen to be in the air for another display season. Sponsored by Edinburgh based company Trig Avionics, the team promises to bring their unique close formation aerobatic display to appreciative audiences across Europe.

Fans of the team will be aware that both Richard and Dave have been seen wearing their distinctive Trig flying suits in aircraft other than their yellow Pitts S1 types. The boys have a proven expertise in restoring old war bird aircraft – in 2015 they flew a newly restored Supermarine Seafire on the UK air show circuit. Richard said, “This last year has been very significant, we moved our entire restoration operation from Suffolk to a new purpose built hangar at Sywell Airfield. I discovered moving a business, a home and getting married in the same year was quite a tall order! Everything was successful in the end and tying the knot was a fantastic high, a truly memorable occasion.”

Whilst Trig team manager Daisy Grace gets used to married life, Dave Puleston continues as Richard’s aerial partner. Dave said, “I’ve been helping air show organisers and the authorities ensure the continued safety of the show going public. Our display remains thrilling as the Pitts is the perfect aircraft to demonstrate graceful formation flight at close quarters. The relatively slow speed of the Pitts enhances the display and keeps the action very much in view.”

Andy Davis, CEO at Trig said, “Here at Trig we are passionate about grass roots aviation. Dave and Richard’s precision flying echoes our company goal of offering high quality and dependable avionics for all forms of flight. We believe the boys continue to inspire people to fly, discovering for themselves all that aviation can offer.”

Both Pitts S1 aircraft fly with Trig TT22 compact transponders and Trig TY91 8.33 VHF radios. These lightweight certified avionics take up minimal space and are simple to operate. Trig equipment enhances aircraft visibility and safety and provides future proof VHF communications for every flight.

The team’s first display of the season takes place at Weston Park, Shropshire from the 17th to the 19th of June. Subsequent show dates can be found on the display schedule pages.
